Abstract

Forest fires in Indonesia, including in Gunung Ciremai National Park (TNGC), are generally caused by human activities and influenced by fuel, climate, and socio-cultural factors. Fires impact changes in vegetation structure and composition and reduce biodiversity. This study aims to determine the diversity of plant species following the 2011 forest fire in the Bintangot Forest of Gunung Ciremai National Park. The research was conducted in the Bintangot Forest area of Gunung Ciremai National Park. The data collection method used in this study was the Gentry (1982) method, which involved observation plots measuring 2 x 50 m or 100 m2 with a distance of 100 m between plots, and data collection using the Species Accumulation Curve, where the study was considered complete when no new species were added. The samples studied included understory plants, seedlings, saplings, poles, and trees. The collected plant data were then analyzed to determine Species Density, Relative Density, Species Dominance, Relative Dominance, Species Frequency, Relative Frequency, Importance Value Index, Species Diversity Index (H’), Species Evenness Index (E), and Species Accumulation Curve calculations. The results of the study showed that there had been significant changes in the structure and composition of vegetation at all growth levels (understory, seedlings, saplings, poles, and trees) compared to previous data (2014), indicating that natural secondary succession had taken place. The vegetation dominating each growth stage tends to be pioneer species such as Eleusine indica, Dillenia suffruticosa, and Syzygium polyanthum, indicating that the study area is still in the middle phase toward ecosystem stability. The recommendation for this study is that the selection of species for land rehabilitation should refer to plant species that have been proven to be able to adapt and dominate post-fire areas, such as Syzygium polyanthum, Acmena acuminatissima, and Dillenia suffruticosa, so that the results of this study can assist in the planning of TNGC area management as a basis for evidence-based conservation and restoration decisions.
